Materials you need to make a mini wall hanging from my free crochet wall hanging pattern
- Sirdar Happy Cotton (20g/43m)
- Choose 4 different shades of your choice, CC1, CC2, CC3, CC4
- 3mm hook
- 7.5cm metal hoop (1 for each lantern)
- Yarn needle and scissors
- Note: each mini wall hanging only takes a small amount of each colour of yarn (approximately 5g)
Finished size of your crochet wall hanging
Approximately 7.5cm across (to fit a 7.5cm metal hoop).

Gauge/Tension
Rounds 1-3 measure approximately 6.5cm across, using Sirdar Happy Cotton and 3mm hook.

This pattern is worked in the round, joining each round with a slip stitch.

How to make a Wall Hanging from my free crochet wall hanging pattern
Free Crochet Wall Hanging Pattern (US terms)
With 3mm hook and CC1, make a magic ring to start (or ch5, then ss into fifth ch from hook to make a ring).
Work Round 1 in the centre of the ring.
Round 1 (RS): Ch3 (counts as first dc throughout), 1dc in ring, ch2, [2dc in ring, ch2] 5 times, ss to top of beginning ch3 to join, then fasten off. (6 2dc-groups, 6 ch2-sps) Do not turn work.
Round 2: Join CC2 into any ch2-sp. Ch3, [1dc, ch1, 2dc] in same sp, ch1, *[2dc, ch1, 2dc] in next ch2-sp, ch1; rep from * 4 times more, ss in top of beginning ch3, then fasten off. (12 groups of 2dc, 12 ch1-sps). Do not turn work.
Round 3: Join CC3 into any ch1-sp. Ch2 (counts as first hdc), 2hdc in same sp, [ch1, skip next 2 dc, 3hdc in next ch1-sp] 11 times, ch1, skip last 2 dc, ss to top of beginning ch3, then fasten off. (12 groups of 3hdc, 12 ch1-sps). Do not turn work.
Join to metal hoop as follows:
Make a slip knot onto hook with CC4. **Insert hook into stitch and under hoop, yrh and pull through, yrh and pull through 2 loops to complete the sc. The metal ring is trapped into the stitch. Repeat from ** in every stitch and every ch1-sp around, ch30, ss in second of these 30 chain, ss in first of these 30 chain, ss in first sc to join, then fasten off. Weave in ends on wrong side.
Attach fringe if desired
For each fringe, cut 3 x 25cm lengths of chosen colour. Fold these lengths of yarn in half. Insert hook into stitch from front to back. Place folded end of yarn onto hook then pull through for a few cm to form a loop. Thread cut ends through the loop then pull to tighten up. When you have attached your desired fringe, trim ends to neaten. Steam block if needed.
