Yarn and Stitches
To achieve the gorgeous basketweave texture, this pattern uses front post and back post double crochet stitches (US terms), or front post and back post treble crochet stitches (UK terms). These stitches are easy to master and provide a satisfying rhythm as you work.
I’ve used Scheepjes Organicon 4-ply cotton, which is not only soft and eco-friendly but also available in a range of beautiful colours. I used every bit of yarn by repeating the border rounds until my yarn ran out. So it's the perfect zero-waste project too.
Why Crochet Your Own Washcloths?
Crochet washcloths are a practical and sustainable alternative to store-bought options. They’re reusable, washable, and can be customised in your favourite colours and yarn types. Plus, making your own washcloth is a mindful and creative way to relax while creating something useful. So it's a win-win option for sustainable and mindful crafting.
