Crochet Cowl Pattern - UK & US Crochet Terms
Using Yarn A and 10mm (US N/15) hook, make 60ch.
Sl st in the first ch (in the first of the 60 chain just made) to join into a ring. Take care not to twist the chain before you join into a ring.
See Special Stitches above, for Puff st instructions.
Round 1 (RS): Puff st in same ch as the sl st join, 1ch, skip next ch, *Puff st in next ch, 1ch, skip next ch; repeat from * to the end. Sl st in top of first Puff st then sl st in next 1ch-space. (30 Puff sts and 30 1ch-spaces).
Round 2: Puff st in same space, 1ch, skip next Puff st, *Puff st in next 1ch-space, 1ch, skip next Puff st; repeat from * to the end, then sl st in top of first Puff st, sl st in next 1ch-space.
Repeat Round 2 a further 12 times.
Cut yarn and fasten off. Weave all yarn ends into WS and trim. If desired, you can block out your cowl as follows:
- Spray with cold water until damp.
- Lay flat and leave to dry.
Taking time to block your cowl will neaten up your stitches and allow the yarn to soften and bloom.
