Finishing
Pin out to 14.5cm (5.5in) then spray with cold water. Leave to dry completely. If desired you can spray the back of your motif with spray starch before pinning it flat.
If you’re creating a wall hanging, you can also attach a wooden dowel or branch for a rustic touch. Attach as follows: Using the same colour as the edging round, make a slip knot on the hook. With the right side facing, insert the hook in the top right-hand corner space, place the wooden stick along the working edge and on top of the working yarn, take yarn over hook and pull through (2 loops on hook), yoh and pull through 2 loops to complete first single crochet (UK double crochet).

Now work single crochet (UK double crochet) through every stitch along the top of the motif, inserting the hook in the stitch and under the wooden stick to trap it into the stitches. Lengthen each stitch to bring it in line with the top of the wooden stick. Fasten off and weave in ends on the wrong side.
Hanging Loop: Using the same colour as the edging round, make a slip knot on the hook. With the right side facing, join with a slip stitch to the sixth stitch from the right-hand end of the wooden stick. Make a chain to the hanging length required then slip stitch in the sixth stitch from the left-hand end. Working back along the chain just made, work a slip stitch in each chain to create a firm hanging loop. Fasten off and weave in ends on the wrong side. Alternatively you can use twine to create a simple hanging loop.
