Free Amigurumi Heart Pattern
My free amigurumi heart pattern is a simple, soft heart that you can make in any yarn weight. It’s a great project for using up leftover yarn, and works up quickly, making it ideal for last-minute gifts.
The heart is worked in the round then lightly stuffed, giving it a neat, three-dimensional shape. You can keep it as a small plush heart, or follow the optional stem instructions, so you can turn it into a crochet heart plant stem. This makes it perfect for popping into a plant pot, because this will make the best handmade surprise for a loved one.

Use Any Yarn Weight With This Free Amigurumi Heart Pattern
If you enjoy small crochet projects that don’t need much yarn, this amigurumi heart is a lovely option. The pattern is very flexible, so you can use whatever yarn you have to hand, from fine yarn scraps to chunky leftovers.
Because the pattern works with any yarn weight, you can easily make hearts in different sizes just by changing your yarn and hook.
- Try 4ply yarn with a 2.5mm hook (US C/2).
- Or double knitting (light worsted weight) with a 3.5mm hook (US E/4).
- Try aran weight (10ply/worsted weight) with a 4mm hook (US G/6).
- Try chunky (bulky) yarn with a 6mm hook (US J/10).
- Or super chunky (super bulky) yarn with 8mm hook (US M/13).

Level of Difficulty
This crochet heart pattern is suitable for confident beginners and beyond. You’ll need to be comfortable working in the round and also using basic crochet stitches.
If you have made simple amigurumi before, you should find this pattern straightforward.
Why You’ll Love This Free Amigurumi Heart Pattern
- It’s a quick and fun project, so you get instant results.
- Great for using small amounts of leftover yarn.
- Easy to choose colours to suit your stash.
- Includes an optional stem so you can turn it into a plant or bouquet decoration.
- Perfect for gifts, decorations, and stash-busting, especially when you need a last-minute gift.
Amigurumi Heart: Yarn Stash Ideas
This amigurumi heart is ideal for using up yarn scraps. You could try:
- Red, pink, or white for a traditional heart.
- Matching the heart colour to a plant pot or bouquet theme.
- Holding two strands of yarn together for a marled look.
- Bright, mixed scraps for a fun and bold finish.
If you have lots of odd balls, small scraps, or leftover yarn from other projects, this is an easy way to use them without waste.
